It appearance certainly has the look of a natural fabric. It is also inexpensive to produce and looked a million dollars. It is still used today, especially for T-shirts and knitwear and when knitted can be mixed with wool and cotton to give an even nicer feel. However, Bus Stop never stopped using natural cottons and wool fabrics and that was always a good selling point 50 One of the cultural backgrounds of the early 70s was to do with developments in industry – specifically the industry specialising in the increasing use of artificial fabrics in dress design.

The ‘Swinging Sixties’ were by now in the past. They marked a renaissance of free love, youthful optimism and ‘can do anything’ exuberance. This image has been imitated over and over – here in The Satin Stripe and it still never goes out of date!
