Creating a New Project Using a Theme In an iMovie project, you combine clip selections from an Event with titles, transitions, and music to make a full-fledged movie. By applying an iMovie theme, you can automatically place titles and transitions into your project. 1 Choose File > New Project. NOTE When you open iMovie for the first time, a new project is created for you, but you can still choose New Project as in step 1.
In this example, the old holiday clips are in a 4:3 aspect ratio. 4 From the Aspect Ratio menu, choose Standard (4:3). The Frame Rate setting under Aspect Ratio sets the speed at which the video was recorded. Generally you can leave this setting unchanged because iMovie will correct it when you add the first video clip to your project. All the holiday video content was created at the same speed, so you will leave this setting at its default value and let iMovie set it correctly.
